The Monserrate Sanctuary is a site of significant cultural, religious, and natural importance. To maintain the beauty and tranquility of our environment and ensure an exceptional experience for all visitors, we kindly ask you to follow the guidelines below:
Media and Journalists:
If you are a member of the media or a journalist interested in covering our sanctuary, please email secremercadeo@monserrate.co. Please include information about the coverage you plan to provide and attach the accreditations of the journalists who will be attending, submitting this at least two business days in advance.
Recordings:
If you would like to make recordings at Cerro de Monserrate, please complete the recording request format least two days in advance. On the form, please clearly state the purpose of the recording.
Recordings intended for commercial purposes will be subject to a more thorough evaluation and may incur additional costs. For this type of recording, please email mercadeo@monserrate.co
Conditions for using and recording with drones:
The use of drones is allowed only in accordance with Colombian Aeronautical Regulations (RAC 100). Please ensure you adhere to the following provisions:
- Operating License: The drone operator must be registered and possess a valid license to operate the equipment in compliance with RAC 100.
- Flight Altitude: Drones may not operate above 120 meters (400 feet) from the ground without special authorization from Civil Aeronautics.
- Operation in Public Space: Flying drones over gatherings of people or in areas with high foot traffic is prohibited unless a specific permit is obtained.
- Insurance and Liability: It is recommended that the operator carry liability insurance to cover any damages to third parties in the event of an incident.
- Weather Conditions: Check weather conditions before the flight using the UAV FORECAST APP to ensure they are suitable for drone operation.

For Recreational Flight:
- Registration of the drone with Civil Aeronautics is required for drones weighing over 250 grams.
- Flight permit is required if operating in restricted areas.
- Liability insurance is recommended, though not mandatory.
- Recreational Pilot Obligations: Always fly within sight, avoid interfering with other aircraft, and steer clear of adverse weather conditions.

For Non-Recreational Flights (Commercial or Professional):
- Registration of the drone with Civil Aeronautics.
- Operator/pilot certification.
- Authorization for air operations and an approved flight plan.
- Liability insurance is mandatory.
- Risk management plan.
- Appropriate safety equipment for commercial flights.
Restrictions by Days and Hours:
To ensure the comfort and safety of our visitors, filming will not be permitted on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays due to the high volume of people at the Cerro de Monserrate. We may also limit recordings on other days if attendance is significant.
Restricted Zones and Behavior:
- Certain areas of the Sanctuary have specific filming restrictions to maintain the peace and sanctity of the site. FILMING IS NOT PERMITTED INSIDE THE MONSERRATE SANCTUARY. Drone filming near the funicular and cable car routes is NOT allowed.
- Recordings that obstruct the free movement of visitors or disrupt public order are prohibited.
- Authorization to film on the pedestrian trail must be obtained from the District Institute of Recreation and Sports (IDRD, for the acronym in Spanish).
- It is forbidden to create videos or photographs with sexual content or violence, as well as to promote brands or conduct advertising or political campaigns without prior authorization.
Delivery of Material:
The responsible party should send a copy of the recorded material to Monserrate at secremercadeo@monserrate.co or info@monserrate.co. Please note that Monserrate reserves the right to use this material for promotional and communication purposes.
Wait for Approval:
Please remember that approval of your recording permit application may take several days, depending on the type of production.
Consequences of Noncompliance:
Failure to comply with these rules may result in the immediate revocation of the recording permit, and if necessary, legal action will be taken to protect the heritage of Cerro de Monserrate.
